FAYETTE COUNTY ANIMAL RESCUE wrote - Geepers is an 8 month old female, merle Great Dane. Fayette County Animal Rescue received a call about this big girl, who was unable to walk. She was covered in ticks and fleas, and had tapeworms, hookworms and was extremely malnorished. She is only 8 months old and weighs 51 lbs. And keep in mind she is extremely emaciated, even at 51 lbs. It appears that Geepers had been hit by a car a few months ago and not treated. She can barely walk, sometimes she can get up and stumble along, sometimes she cannot get up at all. She is still being tested and diagnosed but at this time we believe she will need an FHO. An FHO is a femoral head ostectomy which is a surgical procedure that involves removal of the femoral head. At this time the $1,000 for surgery is our best estimate. Depending on the additional testing and surgery required the exact amount may change (we hope less of course). Please consider making a donation to help save Geepers life. She must have surgery so that she can live pain free and have free motion in her back end. Fayette County Animal Rescue is a no-kill, 501c3 organization serving Fayette County, TN.
