Curtis was born with a incurable liver disease called biliary atresia splenic malformation hus liver hadn't formed in the womb and had no bile flow at all and missing important veins and arteries around the liver and other organs 

Without bile flow you can't absorb fat,vitamins,proteins from food that we need to grow and develop without a fully working liver you cannot live and life expectancy in children with Curtis condition is very low Curtis will need many liver transplants in his life time to keep him alive 

at this moment Curtis liver and spleens are swelling and causing blood flow to be restricted to the other organs due to the missing veins and arteries he will need urgent medical treatment and equipment to keep him alive till a donor liver can be found
