April 23, 2013. Ashley Highfill was at the bus stop waiting for her daughter to return home from school. Across the street, a driverless van began to roll backwards, out of a driveway, and threatened to run over a young girl who played nearby. Ashley saw the situation and ran directly into the path of the moving vehicle. Ashley reached the girl and threw her to safety just as the van hit Ashley, drove her to the ground and pinned her beneath the back tire. Ashley’s decision to act saved that little girl’s life, but that decision cost Ashley a great deal. Still recovering in the hospital, Ashley’s injuries have left her severely handicapped and unable to return to work. As a single mother, Ashley worked hard to provide for her and her daughter and was able to provide comfortably. Now without an income, Ashley cannot afford the medical equipment, supplies, and home renovations she will need due to the accident. Hospital and doctor bills are putting her further into debt and Ashley is concerned about how she will be able to care for her daughter and their future.
We believe a selfless decision like this requires attention and gratitude. To thank Ashley we have started raising money. These monies will help to pay Ashley’s medical and living expenses. It is now your turn to make a decision, will you act and help us support Ashley by making a donation today?
