As many of you know, my nephew Ben was born profoundly deaf.
When we found out that he was eligible for bi lateral cochlear implants, we knew it was the right choice.
However, that was not the end of the process. He still needed lots of help to learn to do things that come naturally to many children.
This is where SOECIC (South of England Cochlear Implant Centre) came in. To this day, they are still providing ongoing treatment and help for Ben and many other children in his position.
I would like, with your help, to make their jobs a bit easier with a bit more money put towards them.
Therefore, I will be running the Fleet Half marathon on 17th March 2013. As you know, fitness is not my strong point, but I'm willing to put myself through this pain if it means I can help SOECIC in any way I can.
If you would like any more information on what SOECIC are all about, please visit their website at http://resource.isvr.soton.ac.uk/soecic/frameset.html
