Leon Merritt hasn't added a story.
Howdy, y'all. I go by Leon. Leon Merritt... also known as
Mesynacious, or Mesyn for short. I'm currently 31. I'm a courier,
gardener, meteorologist, writer, broadcaster, minister, civic
consultant, and I.T. guy. I'm an urban soul who lives and loves to
ride (& work on) my bicycle (hence why I got into couriering on
it). I love video and tabletop games alike. I thrive in warmth,
humidity, and storminess (it's just too bad "jungle boy" is
already taken!). I have no time for the negativity that permeates the
world today, which led to me rejecting all existing political
alignments in favor of a "syncretic" approach - one that, if
it was to be pegged on the existing political spectrum, would be a
"cosmopolitan conservatism" as epitomized by Dwight
Eisenhower, Teddy Roosevelt, & Abraham Lincoln - and founding an
Oasis from the aforementioned negativity that I call the Stormy Grove
Crew (a.k.a. Grove Nation).
I'm also one heck of a
"special" dude.
That's "special" as in "special needs".
When people meet new people, it's by default that people expect "normal". While "normal" is in reality nothing more than a setting on a washing machine, it for most refers to people whose modus operandi is along the lines of functioning "fully" in the field of human behavior, along the "typical" lines. Neurotypicality, to use the word "du jour".
But some of us simply can't do "normal" – including me. I'm "different". I'm on the autism spectrum, have an intellectual disability, PTSD, and major depressive disorder. I'm also "different" looks-wise, thanks to childhood Bell's palsy... and thanks to rejecting the absurdity that is today's world in favor of a "cafeteria approach" where I "harvest" the best parts of existing subcultures and put that together into a "Goldilocks culture", I simply do not "fit in" anywhere. In a world of a sort that Ray Bradbury warned us about, I live a life where most humans simply don't see me as... well, 'human' at all.
This is despite the fact that being "different" is *not* a bad thing. Just because I'm so "unique" doesn't mean I'm worth any less, despite the treatment from those who think that's true. I have so much to offer nonetheless, unique talents - & indeed, people like me can fill voids that may not have been apparent to neurotypicality in the first place.
I expand on my full story over on my Substack, here: Of Reptiles and
Man: An American Untouchable's Story (substack.com)
(It's not
strictly necessary to mosey on over there and have a read, but it's
indeed essential background.)
In a world immersed in so much darkness - fomenting so much despair, emptiness, cultural rot, bigotry, violence, overall dystopia - it's imperative that a place exists where people on that Positive purpose can truly thrive. We are humans - social animals - & need bonds & belonging to have anything at all in life. Despite what some say, we can't do it alone thru non-existent magic, & there's a laundry list of reasons Mother Teresa said that loneliness is the most terrible poverty - if you're lonely, if you're alone, you can't get nowhere. So let's build this great hub where we can all chip in together and make something great so we can all *not* be alone, so we can all shine.
I mean... see the heptomino logo on my bike sign in my campaign
photo? The one next to "Nexus Heptrill"?
There's much
in a name. A hub – or "Nexus" - of cultural &
information exchange, with the central theme being that we're all on
that Positivity, whether we're accountants, musicians, couriers,
gamers, traders, graffers, beauticians, cooks... all kinds of walks of life.
The goal is to be somewhere that us outcasts can come together &
find that squad, that fam, we need to truly thrive in life - alongside
anyone who's got them bonds but simply wants to resist the despair
that envelops us all no matter our levels of material/social
prosperity, a push to embrace the "purpose prosperity"
that's got us all down these days.
Building such a grand thing
requires resources. It also requires that one's life be stable enough
to pull off such an act alongside one's budding community; that open
"family". To kick-start the building of this infrastructure
and creation of content talking turkey and serving the community that
buds and blossoms around a Real Oasis requires victuals.
Hence, this campaign. Whatever flows into this GSG and other avenues will go towards the following goals:
- Stabilizing my life so I can be in tip top shape to continue laying foundation and using my voice to spread a positive message for not just my fellow Christians but anyone on the real.
- This includes a relocation from Fort Worth. As much as I love my hometown, there's just too much coldness and limited opportunity here and I need a fresh start. Maybe through the Grove Project we can work on tamping down some of this negativity and make this city, with it's good bones, so much better!
- Be able to better serve the public with that StormStalkers™ weather analysis and storm tracking.
- Have my most effective setup for couriering
- Stay on the air podcasting and live streaming Three Lives to Live and Grove Nation Live
- A mutual fund of sorts for others down with the Grove in need of assistance to thrive & better serve the community. This ain't about "handouts" - I indeed abhor those - but a "hand for hands" that enables the energy and ability to better contribute.
Thank y'all, be blessed, & let's ride!
