Tucson Cold Wet Noses hasn't added a story.
Wilbur was adopted from PACC the first of January. His adopter had very good intentions and saved Wilbur so he could be a companion for her 80 lb. Lab mix, Lucy. Lucy and Wilbur hit it off from the very first day and there was never an issue with the dogs not getting along.
Wilbur’s adopter was not aware of some medical issues he had until 2 days after she adopted. He has some soft tissue problems with his right hind leg and because of that, he had not been neutered at PACC. After two days of playing with Lucy and the extra activity, Wilbur’s right hind leg was no longer functioning and he could not use it.
An X-Ray has been done and valley fever testing. His titer is low but he will still require surgery on his right hind leg and will need to be on valley fever meds.
Lucy does not understand that Wilbur needs to be quiet now and rest his leg. She is an 80 lb girl who just wants to play and that causes Wilbur to cry in pain. His adopter has no way to keep them separated. Wilbur does not like to go in a crate but he is doggie door trained.
Wilbur needs a foster home ASAP. He needs a quiet home so his leg can rest. It will require surgery and a fundraiser will be started to pay for his medical needs.
If you can help this boy, offer him a quiet home with perhaps other dogs that aren’t so playful please contact Terri Goddard if you can save this boy. He’s small to medium sized Kelpie Mix, very thin, weighs 35 lbs, and not yet neutered. Wilbur is very sweet, but very shy and timid. He’s not mean or aggressive with other dogs or people. He will need some time to warm up though. He’s a good boy who just needs a chance and a foster home.
