I would like to publish a book with personal and poetic essays on art - and I am asking for your help.

I'm a Danish painter and writer. I have self-published more than 35 collections of poetry and essays and more, and I've written for various websites, papers and magazines. Now I would like to publish a book.

There are tons of books on art out there already, books on various artists, books on techniques, on how to sell or on what to buy, art history books, academic books with clever looking footnotes and so on and so on - but I want to do something else.

I want to do a book on why art is important, not on a grand scale but on a personal, subjective level. When I make art myself, it is a deeply intimate and private process - and when I take in other artists' work, it's the same. In order for a particular artist or an artwork to 'speak' to me, she, he or it has to somehow fit with all of the other stuff that's already occupying my brain. Which includes life and such.

I want to talk about that. My book will contain essays on how life art art 'fit' and how they interact. Since the whole thing will also inevitably come to read like a personal confession with me writing about myself and how artists and art works have influenced me, I have little hope that any publisher will be interested. And in any case, I would much prefer for it to be financed like this - by people who just happen to care.

The book will be in English and I do not plan to make any profits from the publication. I want to publish the book because I hope it will inspire the readers to engage with art, each in their own way, and encourage them to have confidence in their own ability to do so.
