I know that I’ve mentioned field school here before and I know that anyone who’s spoken to me in the last year or so knows that I’m going to school to study anthropology, specifically archaeology, and that it’s the one thing I am most passionate about. It’s probably my favorite thing in the entire world. But as much as I’m interested in taking every class there is for me to take, there is only so much I can absorb about archaeology from inside a lecture hall. Archaeology is something to be done, in the sense that part of it requires that you go out and get your hands dirty in the field. This alone is a pretty accurate depiction of what I want most in life. When it comes to archaeology, there is nothing that I don’t want to know about it. And the more I learn about it, the more apparent it is to me that I need to get out there and actually practice the techniques I’ve been learning. This summer, UT’s Department of Anthropology is partaking in a Mesoamerican archaeological project in Belize. I don’t think I need to emphasize just how desperate I am to go, but I really, REALLY want to go. However, I can’t pay for the trip all on my own. Thus, I have set up a PayPal account to collect donations to help me cover the program’s cost and fees in order to meet the application deadline. I am essentially putting all my faith in the good of everyone that sees this and is willing to help me. Please share this and pass this along because every donation counts. If you’d like to know exactly how your donation is going to be utilized or more about the program in general, please do not hesitate to message me your questions and/or concerns. Thank you!
