Please sponsor me for the gruelling Tough Mudder obstacle race to raise money and support a school for underprivileged children in India. More ...

This Sunday 26th October I'll be completing Tough Mudder, a half marathon in typical British autumn time rural surroundings, i.e. lots of mud, rain and cold! Dotted in amongst the run are also a series of obstacles which most sane people would run away from - barbed wire, 10ft walls, ice swimming pools, electric fences and water cannons (https://toughmudder.co.uk/obstacles/). Good times.

I'll be doing this off the back of my recent trip to India as part of Learning Journey, where I visited charities and NGO's doing some inspiring and effective work to tackle various social issues. I also met some of the communities impacted by these widespread problems.

I am proud to say my family in Punjab is involved in tackling some of these issues by helping establish and run a school for underprivileged children within lower class families, called Santushti Vidya Niketan, meaning Happy knowledgeable home. The school is doing an incredible job at providing free education, meals, clean water, medical care, books, uniforms and importantly a safe environment for children between the ages of 5-10. It also empowers local women, employing them as teachers and support staff.

The school is currently at capacity and expanding its premises in order to reach more children. With your generosity I am looking to raise funds to support them in creating an even bigger impact.

Financially, the school is excellently run so a little money can go a long way. The cost of supporting a child each day is only 5 rupees, so only 5p for us. This means around £18 can give a child a year's education!

Wish me luck and thanks for your support!
