This Journey started when Abby was barely 15 months old, pulling her own sled mat up the 50ft Blow Up Mountain at Bounce U Party House. By herself, she would climb to the top and slide down. Then at age 2, her parents panicked when she was caught climbing the side braces to the top of the 10ft Chic Fil A playground! It became apparent she needed a safer playground!

Her parents' knowledge of gymnastics was very little, only recognizing like most, the household name Mary Lou Retton : ). The sport of gymnastics was unknown territory.  But Abby 's parents determined that gymnastics should be explored for the little monkey Abby.

At age 5 1/2 Abby began gymnastics with a great group of instructors and coaches.

Fast forward to today (4 years) and she has already endured the disciplines of training and loves every minute! She has overcome breaks, muscle pulls, sprains, and most of all FEAR.

At a young age Abby is not stranger to struggles and fears.  She faced hardship from age 5-7 from an older disturbed youth that no child should have to endure. Gymnastics has been more than a sport to her. It has been her place to focus and control. Her favorite song is Overcomer by Mandisa. Abby is quick to speak up and to encourage other children who have faced the same hardship and tragedy. Even though she is young, she will look into the eyes of those struggling and remind them that they are OVERCOMERS and God loves them.

Starting January 2015, she has the chance to join her teammates in the Nastia Liukin Cup Series in Georgia, Kentucky, Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, and Alabama. She will compete as a Level 7 and hopefully 8 gymnast at age 9.

Abby is one of five active girls in the Hicks' household. We know life is filled with greater and more critical causes. But Abby needs your help in this step of her dreams!  Please consider a small donation to send her OVER THE VAULT!

PS - Her sister Sammi is following in her footsteps
