There’s something that’s very important to me that I’d like to share with you all. I’m not in the habit of sharing deeply personal things online, but this is different.
As some of you already know, I've struggled with depression for quite some time. Eight years ago, I made the decision to move to the UK, and that’s when the problem began. I was away from my family and friends and I had no idea where I was going to live or work. I tried to cope with the pressures and anxieties alone, because at the time, I thought that was just ‘what I do’. I thought I was strong enough to cope with it all in isolation.

I wasn’t. Life proved me wrong. My first breakdown came as both a shock and an eye-opener.

A few years ago, I signed up for free counselling with the Well Women Centre in Wakefield. It’s a charity run for women by women. It was a huge breakthrough for me; they helped me to recognise that it’s okay to ask for help and that I don’t have to deal with life’s difficulties alone. The most important thing they did for me was to provide me with the tools to be able to cope in the future, essentially preparing me for future challenges and enabling me to overcome them.

The next challenge that I intend to overcome is the LEJOG, which will require me to cycle from Land’s End to John O'Groats. As a charity, the Well Women Centre relies on the generosity of others to continue to support women who need their help. My hope is that you might sponsor me to complete this next challenge in their name in order to raise funds for them.

Initially, donations will go towards funding the ride itself, and the surplus (hopefully a significant surplus) will go directly to them.

Please help me to help them to continue the work that has meant so much to me and all of those who have needed their support
