Dear Family and Friends, I have been living with a Spinal Cord Injury for more than half my life and now more than ever, I am excited and HOPEFUL that someday people living with SCI’s will stand and put one foot in front of another and walk. As you all know on July 22nd 2000, I dove into my above ground pool and suffered an Incomplete C-5 spinal cord injury. My family and I have faced many, difficult obstacles along my journey, but today we DREAM about the day I leave my wheelchair behind. As I've grown, matured and accepted the difficulties of living with SCI, I am excited about the amazing advances being made and I look forward to raising awareness for this unique and special subculture I belong to. Governor of New Jersey, Chris Christie has declared September as Spinal Cord Awareness month. For myself and countless others who live with SCI, I am now making it a top priority to raise awareness, money and bring SCI injuries to the forefront. For the last two months, I have been attending Push To Walk, a rehabilitation facility that specializes in SCI's in Riverdale, New Jersey. I am proud to be part of a successful, caring, dedicated group of people who help those inflicted with spinal cord injuries. Dr. Wise Young of Rutgers is also ready to begin clinical trials and is looking to put “New Jersey on the map” with regard to spinal cord injury research. With your help, I will be able to help Dr. Young and Push To Walk succeed in making dreams come true!
