Meet Benny! This sweet boy, who was living on the streets of downtown Eastside, was struck by a car just a week ago.

Thankfully, a compassionate Good Samaritan brought him (and his owner) to an emergency clinic. However, when his owner couldn’t afford the $8,000 needed for his broken leg surgery, Bentlie was surrendered to a local shelter. With the shelter at full capacity, they couldn’t provide the life-saving treatment he needed, placing him at risk of euthanasia.

Here’s where the story takes a heartwarming turn: the amazing team at VCA reached out to us at TDIAO with an urgent plea. We had less than 12 hours to find a solution before Benny would enter the shelter system. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of two donors who trusted that this situation was a huge part of our mission to support local dogs with little or no chance for a full and happy life, we were able to step in and save his life.

Benny is now recovering beautifully after his successful surgery and will soon move to a cozy foster home where he’ll be cherished and pampered. Once he’s fully healed, we’ll start searching for his perfect forever family.

For now, Benny is resting comfortably and soaking up all the love he deserves. We’re deeply grateful to the VCA team for their compassion and for helping us give Benny a new lease on life. Despite everything he’s been through, Benny remains incredibly affectionate and loving, touching the hearts of everyone he meets.
