The KI6FKX repeater on 147.270 has served the Monterey Bay Area for years now from atop Mount Toro. A change in ownership of the hosting tower site took it off the air a few weeks ago.

The WB6ECE Repeater Group, a 501(c)(3) organization, has acquired the repeater hardware and will be taking over the operation and maintenance of this system, installing it adjacent to the existing WB6ECE 441.300 repeater just a few hundred feet away from its original location. Once back on the air, it will once again be linked to the W6WLS repeater and can be connected to the WB6ECE microwave IP backbone network for additional linking.

This is a critical repeater for amateur radio emergency communications in the region (ARES-4 on the Monterey ARES bandplan) and we'd like to get it back on the air before the end of the winter.

To complete the installation, we need to acquire a commercial-grade antenna (We've chosen the Telewave ANT150D3) to put on our existing side-mount at the 110 foot level of the tower, and feedline (almost 150 feet of 7/8" Heliax). In addition, since the UHF repeater antenna and feedline has not been serviced in the 13 years it has been up there, we need to check that out and replace its deteriorating feedline with a second run of 7/8" line.

With amateur discount, the antenna is $616. The feedline plus connectors is estimated to cost $750 plus shipping. To complete this project and get the repeater back on the air we need to raise a total of $1500.
