Help Gabriel win the fight against brain tumor! Together we can give him and his family hope for the future

With heavy hearts and tears, we announce the passing of our loved little friend Gabriel. He passed away on Tuesday, March 15th, 2016 at the Rogers House surrounded by family and friends. He was only 7.

This message is from Iulia, Gabriel's mom:

"So come with me, where dreams are born and time is never planned. Just think of happy things, and your heart will fly on wings, forever." [...]

THANK YOU for all your support, emails, phone calls, hugs, prayers, smiles, encouragement, hope! Gabriel will be forever 7, dancing, smiling and running with all the angels above us.

Over the last few months, we have given you a glimpse into the life of Gabriel and his family. Through Gabriel’s eyes and determination, we have seen moments of happiness and strength, optimism, will and resilience.

Gabriel finished the radiation treatment in January.

Iulia, his mother, knows that the end of the conventional treatment at CHEO is just the beginning of a long and uncertain fight against a very aggressive tumor. Dramatically, her life changed, but her goals didn’t. Iulia’s force to find the best course of treatment in fighting Gabriel’s brain tumor is unstoppable; her continued efforts can’t be matched.

Your financial contribution over the last months has translated into numerous acupuncture treatments, homeopathic and naturopathic consultations and medication.

Gabriel is one of those kids you instantly love. I am inspired by his courage and spirit. His smile spreads across his face when he looks into my eyes. He is brave and strong, teaching me, without even knowing, about compassion, determination and courage.

Please continue to donate. Send this message to all of your family members and friends who can help.

Help Gabriel win the fight against brain tumor! Together we can give him and his family hope for the future.

Thank you.

Iulia Mihalache is a parent who is struggling to raise two children – Gabriel and Ciprian. Gabriel, the youngest one, is almost six. I remember him with joy for his piano performance at one of the concerts held at St. Nicholas Church in Ottawa on Christmas Eve of 2013.

Gabriel was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor in the pons called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). The tumor is located near where the spinal cord meets the brain. The pons is responsible for a number of important bodily functions, like breathing, sleeping, and balance. Because these functions are vital to survival, the pressure from the growing tumor is very dangerous and it is impossible to remove it or perform biopsy.

The tumor must be stopped at all costs; therefore, for 6 weeks, Gabriel is undergoing intensive radiation treatments, five-days a week. Iulia has been taken a leave of absence without pay to be able to support Gabriel in fighting for his life.

The pain is almost unbearable and the side effects of the radiation treatment are already visible. The skin on Gabriel’s neck has begun to burn. In addition to the traditional treatment, a homeopathic approach is used in order to prevent Gabriel’s brain inflammation that is dangerous and it can stop his heart. In combination with these treatments, acupuncture is tried too.

All these treatments require additional funds which are very difficult to sustain as a single parent. Iulia wishes to try experimental treatments available in the United States, treatments that will require more money.

Any small financial contribution will help Gabriel enormously while giving him hope for the future. I am asking you, from the bottom of my heart, to send this message to all of your family members and friends who can help.

Please include Gabriel in your prayers so the Lord light comes down on him and stop his disease and pain.

God bless you for your support and kindness! Thank you.

Cel mai mic, Gabriel, are aproape 6 ani.

Multumesc.
