My husband, Cedric Wilson, needs a heart transplant because he has end stage heart disease.  We have to relocate to Houston, Texas, where the surgery will take place, for about a year.  He is having the surgery done at Houston Methodist Hospital and is currently being seen at the J.C. Walter, Jr. Transplant Center located at Houston Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas.  We received the formal letter informing us of the decision of the Patient Selection Committee today, June 21, 2014.  The letter says that we have to have a care/relocation plan in place before he can be listed with the United Network for Organ Sharing.  We need financial help to move to Houston because our home and everything else is in Louisiana.

My husband is a disabled veteran, but we are not receiving any assistance from the VA. My husband is also a reserve deputy with the Vernon Parish Sheirff's Office in Leesville, LA and he worked at the football and basketball games as well as providing escort service to the Leesville High School Band.  He worked extensively with the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Youth Department, and is the Director of the PHBC Drill Team which marches in parades locally, the Vernon Parish Christmas Parade and the Leesville High School homecoming parade and around the state, like the Southern University homecoming parade in Baton Rouge, LA and the Grambling State University homecoming parade in Grambling, LA.

My husband has worked hard all of his life and has given his heart to the citizens of Leesville, New Llano and all of Vernon Parish.  We would be grateful for any help that you can give us at this time.

We have had a lot of out-of-pocket expenses with all the travel (gas, lodging and food) back and forth to Houston since March of 2014. We are desperate for help. All donations received will be used for medical care, out-of-pocket expenses related to his condition and relocation expenses.
