Jackie Hoerth-Tobias hasn't added a story.
On march 7th, 2014 my life, my world got flipped upside down. I went in for my annual, an appt that changed my life forever! I have had a lump in my breast for almost a year and back in October my primary care doctor check my breast, gave me a breast exam and told me I had nothing to worry about!! At my appt on march 7th I showed my ob because my breast had started to deform and misshape. As soon as she saw it she became very concerned and told me I needed to go to the breast clinic immidately for an ultrasound and mammogram..so I did. My boyfriend and my son came to the clinic as we all were very worried. After the ultrasound and mammogram we were waiting in a consult room where the doc came in and asked my son to leave. As you can imagine the worry really sunk in when my son was asked to leave. It all became real. The doc proceeded to tell us that the cancer society rates the likelyness of it being cancer on a scale from one to five. One being least likely, five being most likely..mine came back as a five. From there I went in for a biopsy. This was a Thursday and they told us we should hear on Monday. I got very upset because I was just supposed to wait for four days to find out my results?? Friday rolled around and my ob called to explain and go over the ultrasound and mammogram results and as we were talking she had faxes coming in with my preliminary results-moderately invasive differentiated ductal carcinoma-breast cancer, stage 3 at age 29. The following Monday I met with my new breast/surgeon. She explained everything from treatment to surgery. She had even wrote a children's book, which she gave on to my son, explaining what I would be going through. From treatment to surgery to loosing my hair and I'm so thankful for that book because it has helped my son understand as much as he can at his tender age of 9 yrs old. On March 18th I had my first round of chemo which made me very sick. Through my treatment I will not be able to work as I work in the service industry. I have always worked and be the only income for my son and I. This is why I am coming to you for help. I need financial support but not only that I need your love and prayers too as I cannot do this alone. It has taken every bit of courage to ask this of you because I have always been able to take care of myself. So please help support me through this journey. Anything helps. Thank you for the love and support that many of you have already shown and please continue to share my story and follow my Facebook page "support Jackie's fight against breast cancer" for updates throughout my treatment and for the many different fundraising events we have coming up. With your love, prayers and support, I will beat this nasty disease!! Thank you and God bless!
