Moose is an 11 month old Bernese Mountain Dog who has recently been diagnosed with Dentigenous cysts. More information can be found here: http://radiopaedia.org/articles/dentigerous-cyst. Basically, these cysts are caused by teeth that have not erupted and is a developmental, hereditary disorder. These cysts have caused Moose lots of pain, which he displays by bobbing his head and licking the air. At first, we were told the surgery would cost $700, but once the vet (Dr. Z) began, he found more complications than originally expected. The new projected price of the surgery is in between $2500-$3000. Moose had half of the surgery completed on 9/25/14, where Dr. Z was able

to remove one of the large cysts and a few impacted teeth (one is pictured). After both surgeries are completed, Moose will have none of his K-9 teeth and we are unsure at this time how many of his back teeth he will have. This will be based on how the roots of those teeth are impacted by the other cysts. For the first surgery, we were able

to put forward $700, the original amount we were quoted, and Moose is healing very well. However, we need help to cover the rest of the costs for Moose. He will need the next surgery in two weeks, as this is painful for him and urgent so that the cysts don't cause any further damage to his remaining teeth and jaw bone. We were given Moose when he was almost six months old by a family who was unable to care for him any longer for medical reasons. We've done our best to care for him as part of our family since we've had him. Please help us continue to be able to do so! Moose is a very loveable family member, deserves the best, and will appreciate any help offered! Also, if by some miracle we raise more than the cost of the surgery, we pledge to split the remaining donations between Pouncey Tract Veterinary Hospital and the SPCA. THANK YOU!
