Destiny Kucera hasn't added a story.
Hello all! I am writing this story in hopes of help at this point in our life. My name is Destiny and I have a 14 year old daughter and we have a Shipoo that will be 4 in July named Max. He came to us a little over 3 years ago at a very difficult time in our life. Over the last few years as we have grown to be stronger as a family I realized that "Max" is part of our family also. I had never had an "inside" pet before and never imagined how attached to these family members you could become.
About 4 weeks ago he started to become very lethargic and even would fall over once in a while. After taking him to the vet the first time and them saying he had a stomach flu, we ended up at the emergency vet one night. He was severely anemic and his red blood cells were extremely low and she was worried about a blockage. We took him back to his vet the next day for a "barium" test and before I got back to work the vet had called and said that I should probably think about "putting him down" or "putting him through a very risky surgery that he wasn't sure he would make it through anyways" ( he knew I was worried about money because of some recent issues in our world.) I said, "You are going to give him that surgery and try, I cannot put him down!"
This guy, Max, truly saved my life! I now realize that God brought him to us at this hard time for that reason and it was now time that I needed to at least "try" to return the favor and save his life!
They rearranged some schedules and started him in a full surgery of opening his intestines that day at 4:30. We waited...he made it through and they kept him for three days to watch him and make sure he would eat. They went through one end of him to the next to get everything out of him. He was blocked up with plastic toys, his "babies". :( They said it was so toxic and had such a bad smell that it was the worst thing they had ever smelled. :(
Well, he is home now and seems to be doing better. I want you to know that I would not have gotten a puppy if I did not think I could afford him. I never imagined this happening to him so young and/or that I would be single and in a financial situation with my own family issues at the same time.
I know it may not seem like a big deal to you and I can't explain "everything" we've been through in the last four years but I can say that we love this boy with all our hearts and would never ask for help unless we really were in need and at this point, I'm over my head.
We need Max as much as Max needs us, please trust me and anyone who has ever met him will tell you that he is WONDERFUL!!!
Thank you,
Destiny and Chealy Kucera
