Dear Friends and Family:

We are soliciting the support for the artistic pursuits of Amandla Williams and Njema Williams.

Njema (age 13) is dancer training in classical and contemporary ballet and modern dance. We are beginning efforts now to raise funds so that she may participate in much-needed summer intensives. These intensives, which last from 1 to 6 weeks, are quite costly, as they require on site housing in addition to tuition. Njema has already begun auditions for summer intensives, which call for enrollment deposits as early as February.

Additionally, Amandla(age 17) is trying to enroll in a summer program at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). She also aspires to attend a weekend workshop at Johnson Wales University on Culinary and Pastry Arts. Amandla is preparing to enter her senior year in high school, so summer enrichment is extremely important to her near future.

Both Amandla and Njema are high-achieving students. We are proud to say that both have been managing extra-curricular demands while earning high grades. (Amandla earned all A’s in her first semester this year, while Njema was one point short of all A’s.)

It is only through community support that professional level training and education can be made possible for students from working class families.

To give an idea of our financial goals here is a breakdown of the tuition costs we face:

American Ballet Theatre Summer Intensive

$2200

Atlanta Ballet Summer Intensive

$2000

Savannah College of Art and Design

$1000

Johnson & Wales University Summer Program for Culinary Arts

$300

Thanks in advance for helping to keep the arts and our children’s dreams going strong.
