INSPIRE SOCCER hasn't added a story.
Everything started on a road trip to Canada in 2014. Sergi was coming from a bad experience regarding youth soccer with a big professional club and we decided it was time to take action and make a change. It was time to provide kids with what they wanted and not offer something for our own profit. We thought that soccer shouldn't be a burden for families, we thought youth soccer had to be based on the love for the sport, the unity of a team and the sports values that had been so much forgotten since soccer is seen as a win only for clubs. Soon we discovered that the little company we wanted to create needed a name, a name that was significant, that had a meaning and that encircled all of our thoughts on the project. It was in Austin, at around 11pm, we were having a coffee with our friend Bryan when he said the word... he said "the sport has to inspire." From that day Inspire Soccer became our little baby.
Since that day the baby Inspire became the spoiled only child of the house, all our love and effort was destined to make Inspire Soccer special for people, not for everyone but for those that understood and shared the same vision we had regarding youth soccer.
Our first project started the summer of 2015 and it was one of the best summers we ever had. We met a lot of people that today we consider family, we met a lot of kids that today are in college playing soccer. We met parents that today are some of the first people we call to ask for advice or just to say hello. Since then, since 2015, we have had 22 camps all around Texas (always with a limited amount of players to be able to meet everyone and to know every child and family by their name), 5 trips to Europe, 8 players who lived with us in our home in Barcelona (that became family as soon as they came in our door), and 10 staff members that we would give our right hand for.
It is not that our campers have trained with former FC Barcelona players, former La Liga coaches, top academy teams coaches, current head scouts of La Liga professional teams, it is not the more than 90 scholarships we have given to families for our camps, it is not about some of them playing against Villarreal or Atletico de Madrid top teams, it is not about visiting professional stadiums in Europe, it is not even about the Messi, Mascherano, Bartra, Claudio Bravo, Espanyol, Girona or Las Palmas team, De Bruyne or Aguero signed jerseys...it is about the family we all are part of. It is about all the cousins, grandparents, brothers and sisters, uncles and aunts that our little "kid" has around Texas and Spain. We remember every little second with everyone in Europe and in Texas...endless nights talking about soccer in a hotel lobby, glasses of La Rioja wine next to the pool, 4th of July parties with the Inspire families, BBQs in Texas (it doesn't get better than that), World Cup games on TV in a hotel bar in Villareal or a final of the World Cup at the Platts (this is the game Sergi has enjoyed the most in his life being surrounded by so many good friends).
Covid19 has postponed this year's 2020 trip to the Donosti Cup...all those experiences that so many had, have been halted due to an invisible team that has won the 1st half of the game. Camps this year have been affected since we will only have the chance to have 2 weeks of camps and only with half of the coaches available. In summary, Inspire has lost so far 95% of this year's revenue. We still have a second half to play and Susan and I can't play alone, we need our family to play with us, we need the Inspire family.
We have created this fundraiser to be able to compensate all the loses and the interruption of the trip to Spain and 2 of the camps in Texas. We also, unfortunately, still have expenses as a company and without income, it will be difficult to break even this year. We will organise 2 camps (one in Austin and one in the Woodlands) and if one of your children could be there, that would mean the world to us. If you can't come, if you were able to come see us at the fields or would like to collaborate with a donation, that would be fantastic and probably the best news we could have this year regarding Inspire. Every dollar counts. If you can't donate, it is absolutely fine, we do not want to affect your family's economy and we know first hand these times are difficult for all.
We have thought about offering our home in Barcelona, or a week on the beach in Tarragona in the Spring 2021, Spanish classes on Zoom during the month of October, cooking classes online on the weekends after the summer, strength training programs or nutrition programs for all those that make a donation...we can't offer more but we offer all we have.
This is a message only for a few people, for those that mean a lot to us. Please feel free to share this with those you think would like to contribute.
Thank you very much for reading this and having us in your hearts.
With all our love,
Sergi, Susan and our 6 year old, Inspire
