Meet Smokey, Some of you may know him, some may not.  Smokey has been with ARNNE for about 6 months.  Smokey was rescued from Miami, where he was saved from euthanasia.  We hoped that we could help him find a new home here in NH, however, ... More ...

Meet Smokey, he is an incredibly handsome young fella!! He is a German Shepherd/Rottweiler mix, weighing about 90 lbs. Smokey has the most amazing eyes to look into and when you do, your heart is sure to melt, reminding you of a big giant teddy!

Smokey has been with ARNNE for about 6 months. Smokey was rescued from Miami, where he was saved from euthanasia. We hoped that we could help him find a new home here in NH, however, shortly after he arrived; we learned that Smokey had not been properly socialized as a puppy and we were facing some challenges. Smokey needs to learn doggy language, what appropriate play is and how to properly play with other dogs – big and small. He is a little too mouthy and jumpy for most dogs; however the volunteers have been working diligently on getting Smokey to Doggy Daycare a few times a week to help him learn proper behaviors, learn how to read doggy language and on how to introduce himself to wanting to play. Because of Smokey’s size, he can be a bit imitating to new dog friends.

Smokey has some aggression with food and treats that needs correction. We do not have the band-with or knowledge to train Smokey appropriately with his food/treat aggression. Because of the potential risk, at this time, we cannot adopt Smokey out. Our goal during adoptions is to set dogs up to succeed, not to fail and be surrendered. While we have “tips” we can offer to help, the problem may become bigger than that down the road.

We need to send Smokey off to “Boot Camp” training, where he will get around the clock training, 7 days a week. He will learn proper doggy socialization, and most importantly, learn he no longer has to fight for his food/treats, which will make him adoptable and an incredible addition to any family familiar with this large breed.

We feel very confident that after his “Boot Camp” training, Smokey will be able to become a part of a family. We had send 2 very aggressive dogs off to “Boot Camp” and today, they are absolutely shining in their new forever homes, we want to do the same for this fella!!

We need your help financially so we can get him trained accordingly to be a “good boy”.

Please consider, no donation is too small!!! Smokey deserves this, please help us, help him!

Thank you from all of us at ARNNE who are rooting for Smokey
