The story of Itty Kitty
Leaving work (a hospital in Norfolk, VA) on Tuesday night, April 22, 2014, I heard a faint cry of a kitten, only to discover this "itty kitty" abandoned approximately 8' down in a sewer. I called Security to try and help me get him out of the drain. It was "after hours" for Animal Control and I stopped two firefighters, who wished me luck on getting him out of the drain. While security was trying to find a ladder I got the idea to call my father to bring a fishing net to try and save him. The fishing net did not work so well, since he was wedged in a corner and the net would not reach him. So my father, without hesitation, climbed down in the drain to get him out.
That night I noticed his left leg was rotating out if he was placed
on his back and that he had a serious break and maybe more health
problems. My husband took him to the vet, they took X-rays and showed
a bone completely broken in two and would require surgeries and
possible amputation.
When I called animal control, their recommendation was not
surgery. I could not let this itty kitty be put down. So, after a few
people heard of his story and offered to help donate funds, my husband
and I set up this site. Even the smallest contribuation will help make
a difference, and we would deeply appreciate it. This is a safe link
