Many years ago I was stricken with Ramsay-Hunt Syndrome, which resulted in permanent residual facial paralysis and shifting of my jaw alignment. This has created issues with tooth integrity, inability to fully close my lips, increasing problems with chewing, and difficulty pronouncing certain sounds.

The only option that can truly fix this is for me is surgical reconstruction. That used to be a big-deal surgery, with significant healing time. But, thanks to technical advances, a full dental implant procedure, with reshaping of the jaw bone, could give me even better results.

This is something I really want - to feel "normal" again. To have normal functioning of my jaw, and be able to chew and speak normally.

The cost for full mouth restoration, including prostheses, is $43,000. That's a bit more than I can finance right now. And, it's typically not covered by insurance as it's usually considered "cosmetic" (I'm appealing to my insurance due to my underlying health issues, but I'll be lucky if they cover $10k of it).

What really breaks my heart, though, are the people I read about (mostly on the Florida Dental Implants and Oral Surgery FB page), who, like me, are suffering and could greatly benefit from this kind of surgery, but who are in a much worse place than I am financially.

For these people, this type of procedure, a procedure that can restore their quality of life - and, in many cases, dramatically change their lives - is nothing more than a pipe-dream.

That's what prompted me to setup this fundraising page. Not just in the hopes of raising the additional funds I need to have the surgery done, but with the BIGGER hope of raising enough money to fund, or at least partially fund, the surgery for others who are in desperate shape.

My plan/goal is to far exceed my personal need, so that I can assist in providing funding for the procedure to other candidates who have no other financial resources available to them, and are, currently, without hope.

ONE SMILE AT A TIME!

To all those who donate, my heart-felt gratitude and appreciation on behalf of everyone I hope to help.

Thank you,

Kim
