This Summer we will join the Children's Camp Crew (ages 9-12) to create a safe, exciting place for these kids to encounter Jesus Christ, serving in every way from counselors to set-up / tear-down crew.

Hello friends!

This summer I have been blessed with an opportunity to go on a mission trip to Camp Agaiutim Nume, Alaska (good luck pronouncing that!) to work at a children's camp with the Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship at SFA. This trip will take place from June 8th-June 18th.

A couple of summers ago I was blessed to go to Belize to help with a summer camp where we built bunkbeds, picnic tables, and helped with a VBS for the children from the nearby village. This trip to Alaska will be similar to my trip to Belize, except I will be closer to the North Pole than the equator and I will not be building bunkbeds and picnic tables!

This particular area of Alaska has a lot of darkness. It has one of the highest suicide rates in the nation. Many of the children in the nearby villages over the age of three have been sexually assulted in some way. Some of these children have been orphaned as both of their parents have resorted to suicide. It is heartbreaking. But what a blessing to have an opportunity to go on this mission trip to help run a week long summer camp for these kids and introduce them to God's amazing grace and love for them!

As I prepare for this trip, my greatest need is for prayer:

  • Prayer for traveling safety.  We have to travel by plane, boat, and four wheeler over a two day period to reach the camp.
  • Prayer to prepare and open these children's hearts.
  • Prayer for our team to bond and grow as a team as we prepare for the trip.
  • Prayer for Jesus' light to shine in this part of the world.

Prayer is an essential need for this trip. However, there is also a monetary need as well. The total cost of expenses per person for this trip is $2,500 which includes travel, lodging, and food for the 10 days.  If you feel led please consider making a contribution.

I greatly appreciate any support that you can provide for my team and me.  My life was changed on my trip to  Belize. I met a little boy named Junior who had a smile that I will never forget. I have seen God do amazing things and I cannot wait to see what He will do in Alaska.

In Christ,

Danielle Caveness

"And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?' Then I said, 'Here I am! Send me.'" -Isaiah 6:8

In the Yukon Delta of western Alaska, Camp Agaiutim Nune means "the place of God." For the hundreds of children and teens in nearby villages whose everyday experience includes suicide, drug and alcohol addiction, and abuse (in every sense), there week at Camp AN is just that.

This Summer we will join the Children's Camp Crew (ages 9-12) to create a safe, exciting place for these kids to encounter Jesus Christ, serving in every way from counselors to set-up / tear-down crew.
