Detroit Youth Energy Squad Empowering the Next Generation of Green Leaders

The Detroit Youth Energy Squad (D-YES) empowers individuals, especially youth, to make their communities more energy efficient and become leaders in Michigan’s green economy.

We work in K-12 schools to generate interest, passion, and curiosity in Detroit students through implementing sustainable projects in their school and community.

There's always a balance to achieveDuring the summer, we work with high school students as they become energy saving leaders. Under the supervision of adult AmeriCorps Green Schools Coordinators, teams of students lead home energy audits, build water saving structures, engage in environmental justice campaigns, and build public awareness around urban sustainability issues.

This campaign is not only fundraiser but a FriendRaiser as we like to call it, because we would like to connect you to the students and the work of the Detroit Youth Energy Squad as lifetime Friends of the D-YES family.
