H.O.O.P.S. an acronym for Helping Overcome Obstacles Preventing Success is pilot programs that will help young people remove barriers for participating in worthwhile programs (ex. A.A.U. or other programs that require fees for participation). H.O.O.P. S. will help teach: * honesty * teamwork * fair play * respect for themselves and others * Adherence to rules. Often times, a barrier for young people's participation in such organizations are the lack of financial resources. Without the resources needed to participate, these young people will not get the exposure and opportunity to partake in an organized activity that will allow them to showcase their talents as a vehicle to further their opportunities to obtain quality education beyond high school. WHAT IS H.O.O.P.S.? In today's tough economic climate, high unemployment, high rate of single-parent families, high teenage pregnancy rates, low academic achievement and negative outside influences facing our most vulnerable youth has resulted in the organization of H.O.O.P.S. It's mission is to help young people with the idea that "whatever they can conceive and believe they can achieve." H.O.O.P.S. organized by a National Championship coach who has seen the powerful influence that sports can play. Changing a negative paradigm into one that contributes to a holistic, positive experience through play and physical education, lessons learned gives the life skills of honesty, team work, fair play, respect for themselves and others and adherence to rules - all skills necessary to be successful in life. THE BENEFITS of H.O.O.P.S? H.O.O.P.S. while designed to remove the barrier of participation due to the lack of finances will also strive to improve all of its athletes academically, socially and physically. H.O.O.P.S in conjunction with Carolina Dynasty will provide a comprehensive approach to achieve a more rounded student athlete. Participants of our program will have the opportunity to participate in a 6-part series of lessons centered on the principles of Character Education. Mentors of this program will teach these six ethical values that are critical to showing good character 1. Trustworthiness Be honest. Don't deceive, cheat or steal. Be reliable.
