Vince "Lenny" D'Achille, is a 38-year veteran firefighter and EMT. On any given day, if you were to ask Vinnie if he likes his job, he would say "I love what I do". His whole life, all he ever wanted to do was help people, and that is what he has done for the past 38 years. He has put his life on the line to help others. He worked 2 jobs as a firefighter/EMT to support his family. Never in a million years did he think that his life would change when he woke up August 6, 2015. He went to work at his part time job that morning. They received a fire call in Media. He went into the building and suffered smoke inhalation. He found that he could not breath and went running out to the paramedic, who immediately started to work on him. They took him to Riddle Hospital, where he was admitted due to complications from the smoke inhalation. His general medical condition continued to deteriorate. His organs started shutting down. After 2 weeks in Riddle Hospital, he was transferred to Pennsylvania Hospital, where he had to undergo abdominal surgery. Although he was discharged from the hospital after a stay of 30 days, he was far from being fixed. He has had several trips back and forth to the hospital since then. Lenny continues to fight for his recovery. The doctors can not get him stabalized enough to do what they need to do to fix him. Unfortunately, in the meantime, he is unable to work, therefore does not have any income since his job does not offer long term disability.
We are trying to raise money to help eleviate the stress of the mounting bills, so that he can concentrate on getting better!
