The Brothers Pearse GAA Youth Section had a wonderful year last year, with representation at most levels with great success! – we now want to continue this activity in to this year and make it an even greater year – in this the Club's 60th Diamond Jubilee Year!

As part of that we plan to undertake 2 trips to Ireland, one for the U12s, 10s, 8s at Spring Bank to Dublin tbc and another to Lettermore Co. Galway tbc for the U18s, 16s, 14s, as well as taking our U18s to London for the All-Britain Championships (ABCs) again.

However, this increased activity comes at a cost, we were down £500 on our running costs last year (£2,000) and now just have under £100. So we aim to get ourselves in a financially sound position and raise £1000 ready for the start of the season in April.

As such we have group of 8 volunteers who have signed-up for the GAA’s  ‘Off the Booze on the Ball’ campaign, which involves abstaining from Alcohol for the month of January and raising funds through sponsorship.

The group is as follows:

John Lambe, Sharron O’Donnell, JP Kitterick, Franny Warne, John O’Shea, Gary Parkinson, Phil Drake and Michael Flaherty

Please support them – in their challenge!

In addition we shall be topping off the campaign by partaking in Dewsbury 10k, Sunday 2nd February, 9am. Online entry (closing date 18th Jan) costs £17.80 and be done through: Dewsbury Road Runners (Brothers Pearse will cover the cost for any of our over 15s-U18s wishing to partake)

Up to date the Following shall be partaking and also seeking sponsorship:

John Lambe, Franny Warne, John O’Shea, Michael Flaherty, George Kitchen, Michael Cornelly, Liam Cornally

There are number of others who have expressed an interest as well, so hopefully we will have a good group and get our Diamond Jubilee Year off to a great start!

Good Luck to them All!
