Pandora’s Jar will be a mutual benefit non-profit collective geared towards holistic healing, with a long term goal of opening a holistic healing center for our community. Our mission is to use our employee’s individual talents and professional training, to provide all natural remedies to treat our patients various ailments. We feel this is a better approach to healing than the standard Western practice of focusing on individual symptoms rather than the whole body. We plan to achieve our holistic goals by focusing on the health benefits associated with proper diet, exercise, and spiritual/mental wellness.

To guide us on our mission, we have gathered a diverse and talented staff consisting of 2 certified baking and pastry chefs, a certified culinary chef, and a yoga practitioner. We plan to add a masseuse to the mix in the near future, as well. We will provide our community with mind and body healing by offering cooking classes (our future site will have a certified kitchen), yoga classes, and massage sessions, as well as natural dietary supplements procured from our future organic herbal gardens.

Here, at Pandora’s Jar, we are committed to helping people. In order to reach this goal, we are reaching out to our community for assistance. And for those who aren’t close to Portland or in our direct community, you never know, if this works out well enough a natural healing center could come to a community near you.

Our Goal:
Pandora’s Jar came to be after a group of people who shared an interest in natural holistic healing came together and discovered a common desire to help others with our knowledge and experience. With certified chefs, a yoga instructor, and our collective gardening knowledge on our staff, we will strive to bring our passions and skills together to help the people of Portland find alternative sources of healing. It is important to us that our customers leave our offices satisfied with our knowledge, advice, and overall services.

Fundraiser Breakdown:
Fundraising for Pandora’s Jar will be broken up into three small fundraising drives. Each drive we perform will be done individually, after each prior step has been completed. Of course, we want to open tomorrow, but understand that this is a goal, and most goals are not met overnight. Rolling up the sleeves and relying on hard work and dedication will be the corner stone of our establishment.

Our Initial Fundraiser: $1,700.00
Our initial fundraiser is set to help us cover our gardening equipment costs; everything we need to get our herb and spice gardens up and running (spades, gloves, shovels, soils, nutrients, seeds, potters, green houses, sprouting chambers, etc). This is essential because in order to keep our garden overhead low, we will grow a majority our own herbs and spice. Being self-reliant also means we will need to grow all of our own herbs and spices BEFORE we open our doors so we have our shelves stocked for patients. A lot of labor will go into this area before we even get to open our doors.

Remaining Fundraising Steps:
Our second fundraising drive is set to help cover the legal aspects involved in starting a non-profit. This will involve paperwork, permits, certifications, and legal representation. Unfortunately, lawyers aren’t cheap either, which is where most of our funds raised from this section will go to. Having a lawyer will ensure no corners are being cut and patients are receiving the highest quality services from our end, this is essential.

Our last, and biggest, fundraiser will be to raise money for occasion when we find and are ready to move into the perfect spot for our new holistic healing center. By this time we hope to have our garden going to help offset the moving costs by providing excess herbal products, after our initial inventory, to other local organic and natural health stores. This effort may take the longest but we do have other plans in motion to help ease this burden. Each successive step will help Pandora’s Jar get closer to opening our doors and serving our wonderful community.

After Thoughts:
As we work towards each financial goal we will be posting updates of our progress to keep our loyal supporters involved throughout the whole process and show we are always making progress towards our goal. We hope to be up and in business in a year. Not only will we be posting updates, but each person that donates to our cause will receive a personal letter of gratitude for their contributions, a chance to sign up for our recipe club, and free cooking classes in the future.

With your help and support Pandora’s Jar can transform from an idea to inspire and heal, into a beautiful reality of people helping people.
