In May 2014, as part of my BA Hons university programme, I will be embarking on a trip to Durban, South Africa. Working with schools and other communities we will be using drama techniques to help raise awareness around sexual health and will workshop issues about gender equality, relationships, behaviour change and sexuality.

The trip costs £1,300, of which I have already raised over £450 of my own money, and in order to raise the remainder I am undertaking a challenge in the hope that people will sponsor me and help raise the final £850 required.

My challenge is to walk 50km along the at Thames Path, from Putney to Runnymede, on Sunday 3rd August 2014. Now, most people who know me are aware that I have battled several health issues this year alone (including viral meningitis in July last year, which I am still recovering from and which has prevented me from taking part in my original challenges of running 2x 10k and a half marathon, and my most recent case of broken ribs), also that less than 3 years ago I was still crippled by the nasty disease of M.E. and now with God’s amazing grace I have recovered. I want to give thanks and celebrate my health by using it help raise money for this important life changing trip to work with those less fortunate than me in Africa. I will of course keep you updated on my walk; you're welcome to come and cheer me on, and I will blog all about our African adventures whilst we are out there. Your support would be truly appreciated. Jx
