***** Thank YOU ALL so much! Now that we have reached our goal, anything over 5k will be donated to non-profit animal organizations.****
With as many friends Alpos has, each person could donate just a dollar and the bill would be covered. This is purely optional and purely confidential. It’s a way to give back to a dog who put his heart in his work to save his owner and to a handler who risks his life every day to keep us safe.

Finished! Thank you everybody. Our campaign is now over.

Alpos is a retired Police K9 with the Houston Police Department. He committed his life to taking down bad guys and keeping the people in his city safe. Alpos recently retired after a long honored career.

Late in his career Alpos helped apprehend a burglar in a building. Alpos was stabbed with a screwdriver several times as he tried to bring down the bad guy. Despite the immense pain Alpos felt each time he was stabbed, he remained on the bad guy protecting his human partner long enough to get some help. The burglar then turned his attention on the officer, stabbing him several times in the chest with the same screwdriver. Unfortunately, things did not end well for the bad guy. Let’s just say he will never burglarize, hurt a K-9 or an officer again.

Recently while enjoying his retirement, Alpos was rushed to the veterinarian’s office for emergency surgery. During surgery, a tumor was found on his intestines and was removed. The tumor damaged the intestines badly enough they had to take a part of them as well. Alpos had a less than 50 percent chance of surviving. Once inside Alpo’s abdomen, the doctor realized that Alpos could be saved, but the cost would be extreme. Alpos, handler refused to let his partner and hero die and told the doctor to please do whatever it takes to save Alpos. He did not want Alpos to go out this way. Alpos needed to live a long life laying around his home and chasing squirrels. He deserved a retirement equal to his dangerous and exciting life as an HPD K-9.

Because Alpos is retired, the cost for the surgery came directly from his handler. The veterinarian was nice enough to deduct some cost, but his handler still had to pay a large sum of money out of pocket. I have set this page up to help offset some of the cost involved in keeping a K9 Hero alive.

Thank you and thank Alpos!
