Fundraiser: Get the Southern Star Pups to OC Pet Expo 2019!

Hi, we’re Southern Star Animal Rescue. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit based in Winchester, California and we’re on a mission to help end animal cruelty through rescuing and rehoming homeless dogs in the Southern California area.

We may be tiny, but we do BIG things! Since we started in 2010, we have adopted out THOUSANDS of dogs -- thanks in large part to our growing network of generous fosters who give our dogs a loving home environment and help prepare them for their “furever” homes.

We Need YOUR Help!

Our biggest source for finding loving adopters is an annual event called America’s Family Pet Expo in Orange County, California. This year, we’re bringing OVER 40 DOGS to the Pet Expo -- so we REALLY need your help!

While the Pet Expo is an incredible, BIG event, it also comes with some BIG expenses and we’re hurting right now -- we need your help more than ever. Every cent raised will go directly to supporting the dogs we are bringing to OC Pet Expo.

Here is how we will spend the money:

• VETERINARY BILLS! This is the big one. We’ve racked up some high medical bills this year, saving dogs during the San Jacinto fire, pulling as many pooches as we could from a hoarding situation (a whopping 14 dogs!!), and rescuing dogs like our dear poodle mix, Julius, whom we were able to save from life on the street (or worse!), but are still paying off his $1,400 vet bill for a luxating patella and some other health issues.

Many of these dogs also have required dentals -- and that’s ALL ON TOP OF OUR REGULAR EXPENSES for spaying/neutering, deworming, microchipping, and making sure all shots are up-to-date.

• GAS. Gas prices have skyrocketed and we’ll be loading up the dogs in our trucks and RV and driving 140 miles roundtrip from Winchester to Costa Mesa. Yes, it’s an adventure, but YES it’s an expensive one that’s essential for getting these pups adopted.

• GOLF CART RENTAL. The Pet Expo is a three-day event held at the Orange County Fairgrounds -- a HUGE venue that requires us to move the dogs every morning and night from our RV to our booth at the event. We desperately need to rent a golf cart -- and it will set us back $375 for the week. Or, if you have a golf cart we can borrow, please let us know!

This is a lot of money for us, but we are determined to have a successful adoption event and we believe in the amazing generosity and kind hearts of people who can help.

Please know that every bit helps and there is no amount too small to donate. We do not pay ourselves and we always make sure that every cent goes to supporting these wonderful animals who so desperately need our help.
