Dallas McNamara hasn't added a story.
Hello. My name is Dallas. I am the oldest son of Dan McNamara. I am the second oldest of four children, all of which are going through a very rough time right now.
On October 8th, 2015, our father was ripped away from us, unexpectedly and rapidly. What began as our father starting to feel mildly ill (with flu like symptoms) on Tuesday, quickly escalated to my sister (Danielle) taking him to the hospital (at 11 pm of the 7th). A few hours later (at approximately 3 am), he was being rushed into ICU, and our world changed forever. Once he was taking into the ICU unit, they ran more tests, to attempt to uncover the rapid illness, and try to help him the best they could.
At about 6 am of the 8th, I decided to go home to try and catch an hour of two of sleep. Only about a half hour in of sleeping at 8 am, I was awoke and told to call my sister asap. I called and I had found out that my father had code blued twice (heart failure) and told me to get down there asap. They were able to bring him back both times, and things started getting even scarier. By the time I got there, the doctors had determined they needed to put him into an induced coma to relax the body, and to start to run dialysis to help rid the blood of the intense amounts of acid that was responsible for the damage done.
After two hours, and no dialysis machine hooked up yet (we still do not know what took it so long to get there), the alarm rang again; we sprung to the door of the ICU area to see the light above our fathers room flashing. We held each other, cried, prayed for him to be okay. After about 30 minutes of them trying CPR, they couldn't get him back. We had lost the greatest man in our world, our father... our superhero.
Just the week before we had moved him into a new place where he could be happy, free, and live in less pain since here didn't have to fight with stairs. He never got to enjoy breaking in the house with cookouts, family get togethers, and the grandkids playing out back.
The money we hope to raise is to assist in paying off any remaining bills he had, medical costs, funeral arrangements, memorial services, and helping his kids make sure they have a few less worries until they can rebuild their battered hearts. We are asking for the help because it truly is a lot for us to handle in what was already rough times, and we are fighting to keep optimistic on the future without our beloved father.
May he rest in peace with the angels and watch over us, pain free, and may he honor his life by living ours to the fullest.
We will do our best to keep everyone updated on memorial service details as soon as we know.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Dallas McNamara, son of greatest father one could ask for
