Andrew Reyes hasn't added a story.
Hi folks,
As many of you know I suffer from dissociative seizures due to brain damage and PTSD from various traumas. This started in 2012 when I had a neurological event that left me unable to speak for nearly two weeks and unable to drive. At that time I used Fundraizer to help me recover from the unexpected loss of income and medical costs.
In 2013 I was unable to work for over half the year, due in part to this disability and an unrelated surgery. My neuropsychologist and neuropsychiatrist recommended I apply for disability through Social Security, but I returned to work part time before the process was finalized and I lost my benefits claim. Because of the time I was unable to work that year I fell under the threshold for FMLA of 2014. To compound the bad luck my care providers opted to stop seeing patients in favor of conducting research and I was left without care. My condition is rarely seen outside of combat and most providers are inside the military. There were no other qualified doctors that also took my insurance in Phoenix.
Now in 2014 I'm facing termination from my employer due to excessive abscences. I'm working with the original doctors that figured out my disability at Mayo Clinic, but with losing my job soon I will also lose my health insurance and have to wait to go through the system for public assistance. In addition to my medical bills Chris was laid off about a month ago, and has his own health issues that we are struggling with financially. I've only been able to manage 30 hours a week, and in the last two months my seizures have increased to 2-3 times weekly and lasting longer (several hours with worse recovery symptoms) so I've only been pulling in 18 hours a week on average.
I've returned my car, I've sold most of my collectibles and old jewelry. As things stand I need to come up with about $800 to pay for part of rent, medical bills, cell phone and car insurance for Chris' car in the next two weeks. Once we get past this hump I can maintain things even on the reduced hours I'm actually working and should be able to when I'm fired (probably this week or next actually) and go on public assistance. But we really need help to make it these next two weeks to get past pushing things off to the next check like I have had to.
If you can help I appreciate it. If you can't, but want to, feel free to share. Any help you can give is appreciated.
