5 Years running
Ayden is in his third year of treatment for Leukemia. His family has exhausted their savings for his medical and additional needs. Please help us help Ayden
Ayden is a four year old boy with LEUKEMIA that is in his third year of treatments. He was diagnosed when he was 18 months after having been to the drs office twice within two weeks. The first time they thought cutting teeth was the source of his low grade fever and loss of appetite and was given an anti-biotic. The second time, still with fever, a rash and an ear infection, and sent home with another run of amoxicillin. After another 10 days, and bruising, soreness all over, fever and swollen lymph nodes, they took a blood test and admitted Ayden, telling us he had Leukemia. We didn't go home. He was diagnosed March 6 2010 and went home right before his 2nd birthday in August. His first phase was aggressive, all the different kinds of chemo his little body could take. He was sick, but he was really sick. Our family took turns being with Ayden, daddy and papa on days, nanny by night, but I wouldn't have traded one minute for that time, except, of course having him not having CANCER. Such a big word for such a little boy. He had been the ill Michelin man, with rolls and chub bigness that I loved. He learned to ride a trike, always with Jarvis in tow( his IV pole). He called himself Ironman with having a PORT in his chest for accessing him daily. He was my superhero... And still is. His mom, married and had moved to Florida with her other two boys, and we, Nanny and PApa, became his legal guardians. How I never expected to be a mom at my age again, but I was all about Ayden, and his battle. Our lives have changed but our love has endured. We have exhausted our savings, our 401k, but not our strength and hope that one day Ayden will be CANCER FREE!!!! Oh how I can't wait to hear those words. I hope you will see Aydens pics, the boy with a smile bigger than his being, a heart so humble he'd give anything to someone who wants something he has. He's a soldier, my ironman, my warrior. And we will make it through with Gods love, his blessings and the support from those that are lucky enough to meet this little boy. Ayden has hopes to start BIG school this year, tho he turns five a week before the new year starts but he will have to start the INDUCTION phase again, being back in Mission for again, aggressive Chemo and other cancer drugs. We still have a long road ahead, but not as long as it has been, so I thank you for your support, your kindness and your selflessness and your Prayers for Ayden. He is one lucky little boy, especially since his name is LUCKADOO...
