Baby Rumur was born with the congential heart condition called Ventricular Septal Defect or VSA. It's means she has a hole in her heart.

She was bon in the Downey Shelter in Downey, CA along with her two brothers, who lucky did not suffer from the same heart diesase. At 3 days old her mama Roxie and her brothers Regis and Reagan went to a wonderful foster home. She was always a petite little girl and always tired, but we thought she was just a tiny puppy who loved to be held all the time. Then just this past week when she was 11 wks old, she was showing signs of a cough along with a little whinning noise. She was lethargic and didn't have an apetite, so off to the vet we went.

Our wonderful vet, Dr. Daniel Slaton of Westlake Village Animal Hosptial listened to her heat and told me the sad news that Rumur had a severe heart mumur and needed to see a cardiologist right away as she was already showing signs of heart failure. OH NO!
So I made the call right away and got an appt the next day with the cardiologist specialist, Dr. Nick Russell of the Advanced Veterinary Care Center in Woodland Hills.

Dr. Russell confirmed by ultrasound that Rumur indeed had a hole in her heart. But....the good news is it's repairable and she can live a full life once the hole is fixed.

Right now Rumur is 2.9 lbs and Dr. Russell would like to give her 4 more weeks to have her gain a few more ounces so the ventrical that needs to be fixed can get a little bigger to make surgery easier. So, we are hoping our little girl can gain some more weight.

The estimate for her surgery and post-op care is about $4700. We want to give baby Rumur a chance at having a long a healthy life and every penny we raise will give her that chance.
