Brooke was critically injured in a single vehicle accident on Friday, November 2, 2012, while returning to work after her lunch break. When EMTs arrived on the scene, she had no pulse and they had to use a defibrillator. She was airlifted to University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) hospital. She also has a fractured sacrum. She was taken from the Emergency Room to the Neurological Intensive Care Unit where she was diagnosed with a a C2 burst (neck fracture), swelling of the brain, and possibly some form of brain injury. Although she had some medical coverage through her automobile insurer, the massive amounts of medical care which she has already received and will need during the weeks and months to come will create an enormous debt for this single mother of a 1 year old little boy.
While the cause of the accident is not yet known, it is speculated that she may have swerved to avoid an oncoming car. Investigation of her cellphone records have determined that she was definitely not texting at the time. She had left her grandmother's house approximately 5-7 minutes before the emergency call came into 911. Because of her extensive head injuries, Brooke may not remember what happened when she is finally able to communicate.
Any amount you can give, no matter how small, will help her to pay for the medical treatment she is currently receiving and the physical therapy she will need in the future in order to regain her abilities to function in society.
Brooke is a sweet, caring person who has made many friends. She deserves our help to recover as much as possible and be able to take care of her beautiful little boy, Olyver Skye. Thank you so much for blessing her with your financial gift.
