My name is Charlotte. I am 6 years old and I live in Perth, Western Australia.

I am raising money to help the organisation, Friends of the Western Swamp Tortoise make a video about the critically endangered Western Swamp Tortoise.  The video will be used on their website and also in schools to educate kids about the Western Swamp Tortoise.

The Western Swamp Tortoise is the most endangered tortoise in the world. They are the most endangered reptile in Australia. There are just 50 adults in the wild in Western Australia.

Foxes, feral cats, crows, goannas and birds of prey all prey on the Western Swamp Tortoise. Their habitat was destroyed to make way for human settlement.

The Western Swamp Tortoise is carnivorous. It eats insects and crustaceans like shrimp.

They can live to be over 60 years old.

They go underground during summer and autumn and become active again in winter and spring.

They lay their eggs in November and December.

When the babies first hatch they are the size of a 10 cent piece and they’re really cute!

Not many people know that the Western Swamp Tortoise is critically endangered.

Please help me to save the Western Swamp Tortoise.

Thank you.
