Kimberly Megargel hasn't added a story.
***WRONG PLACE WRONG TIME*** are the exact words of the detective
that brought Kylee's case before the prosecutor!!! Add to that, the
fact that she believes Kylee's statement and felt she was very cooperative!!!
What happened you ask?
Kylee is a 20 year old from Utah
who was driving her boyfriend and his friends around one night. One of
the boys asked to stop at a house and Kylee, naturally shy, decided to
stay in the car and wait rather than go in and deal with the
awkwardness of having to make small talk with people she didn’t
know.
As she was sitting behind the wheel waiting for the boys
to come back out, they suddenly jumped in the car and screamed at her
to drive! Scared, nervous, and unsure of what was happening, Kylee
drove off with the boys in the car. After a couple blocks, she calmed
down enough to pull over and refuse to drive any further as she didn’t
know what they had done but knew she didn’t want any part of
it.
If she hadn’t pulled over so quickly, the police might still
be looking for these people. As it is however, the police apprehended
them almost immediately due to Kylee’s refusal to run from the
authorities.
Upon questioning the victims and witnesses, Kylee
was never mentioned. Her name was never put on any reports and when
her statement was taken, the detective believed her completely, even
telling the judge she was simply in the “wrong place at the wrong
time”.
Kylee’s offense is she was behind the wheel of what she
thought was an innocent visit with friends that turned into a crime
committed by her boyfriend and his friends.
Kylee is a scared 20
year old who trusted her boyfriend and knew that his love for her
would never put her in danger. Kylee has unfortunately learned you
can’t always trust your heart.
She doesn’t deserve to be
sentenced to 20 years in jail but her family can’t afford a lawyer.
Please consider donating to Kylee’s legal fund. Anything you could
spare would be so appreciated by Kylee and her worried family. Even a
dollar will help make the difference in Kylee’s life.
