TransCanada has announced they intend on moving forward with their Energy East Pipeline, a 1.1 million barrel per day project to convert the existing natural gas mainline into a tar sands bitumen pipeline to the East coast, for mostly foreign export.

This pipeline traverses rivers, runs adjacent to lakes, and passes through many important waterways; for example, in North Bay, Ontario it goes through the Trout Lake watershed (and crosses the lake's most Eastern point) which provides the municipal drinking water for over 54,000 people.

We are raising funds to buy ad space locally and to bring in guest speakers to our community. We must all try to correct TransCanada's untruths about the safety of converting a very old natural gas mainline to transport high volumes of very dangerous and poisonous diluted bitumen. We must all help our friends see through TransCanada's claims of job creation and national energy security. Our waters and our environments need our voices.
