Aurora's brain injury has resulted in a severe scoliosis condition which is twisting her spine out of alignment to the point of daily pain we can no longer manage with medications and therapy, for 10 years now we have tried our best with her, bracing and therapy to avoid surgery. Her need for oxygen has increased with the curve in her lower back so we have scheduled a full spinal fusion for May 29th 2013. It is a huge, scary procedure that will require her to be under anesthesia for over 10 hours with much blood loss and need for recovery in the ICU for up to 10 days afterwards. We count on the IHSS program to help to pay our bills, I will not be able to collect IHSS funds while she is in the hospital and will need to stay in a hotel for a week while she is in the ICU so any help with funds would be greatly appreciated by our family. This surgery will allow her to live with less pain, breathe better and focus on things like her vision and speech. We have high hopes for a happier child from this procedure. Feel free to ask us any questions as we are always wanting to help others in need from what we have learned. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
