Please help a Black woman and an Asian/Latinx Nonbinary person pay their bills.
Hi my name is Anna, the primary creator of this fund.
I was furloughed from my job due to COVID-19 March of 2020. Then when things started to open back up for non essential businesses, I was effectively displaced from my place of employment when my job was looted and burned during the George Floyd riots in the summer of 2020. My place of employment is currently working on rebuilding the site. I had been receiving unemployment benefits until January 2021. I got a call January 6th from my old employer who I haven't worked for since 2019... someone tried to file a new unemployment claim stealing my identity. The old employer and I reported the account as fraudulent using the IDES fraud claim portal on their website. However due to IDES being incompetent, this effectively stopped my benefits from being paid as IDES flagged my account as fraudulent and not the fraudsters. This was confirmed when I received the obviously computer generated mail in the post. I'm still waiting to hear back from them as of February 11th, 2021, thus effectively resulting in rent being past due as well as utility bills. I have previously lived my life paycheck to paycheck, and without a "paycheck" coming in... I'm scrambling to figure out how to pay for my bills. I am on SNAP/EBT/Food Stamps, so food hasn't been a main issue. Kirin, my roommate, has also effectively lost their job due to COVID-19. Resulting in their half of rent not being paid. Our landlady has been forgiving and understanding, but we would really much like to insure that we can continue living here.
I, Anna am currently in the process of getting another job, however since Illinois pays biweekly, it would be a month before I can see a paycheck, and who knows how much back rent and debt I'd be in then, as I'm already in a lot now. I feel really guilty relying on my friends and family to support me, but I feel like if I consolidate everything on one fund, I wouldn't feel so guilty. I am asking you to help us, a Black woman who lost her job, and an Asian/Latinx nonbinary person, pay their bills due to this overgrown pandemic.
