Juanita Bocanegra is currently seeking election to the vacant 58th District Court Judge seat in Ottawa County that is being created by the retirement of Judge Susan Jonas at the end of this year.  With the limitation on personal visits, fundraising gatherings and the traditional canvassing has become a significant challenge.  Therefore, your personal involvement in helping Juanita’s campaign is crucial.

Let me share Juanita's story with you and why I wholeheartedly support and endorse her candidacy. Juanita arrived in Michigan with her parents as migrant farm workers. From a very young age, Juanita worked in the fields alongside her parents until she graduated from West Ottawa High School and enrolled in the Honors Program at Grand Valley State University. She obtained employment as a legal assistant at Hann Persinger, PC, while also working at Old Kent Bank (now Fifth Third Bank). In 2004, Juanita started attending law school on the weekends and weeknights while working both jobs and raising a young family with her husband, Jose. She earned her Juris Doctorate Degree from Thomas Cooley Law School and accepted a position at Rhoades McKee. In 2011, she joined the Ottawa County Prosecutor’s Office where she currently serves as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney. Juanita has experience handling both civil and criminal cases, varying from misdemeanors up to and including murder trials. She places a great value on integrity and understands the importance of creating and maintaining professional working relationships with all court personnel, law enforcement officers, agencies, and other attorneys.
