Thank you for watching our videos, for your comments, your likes and subscribes! To our great joy, Greenbrier Bushcraft has became instantly popular on YouTube and we are very excited to provide you all with more long-term wilderness living footage in the very near future. The Greenbrier Bushcraft Project is going to be a year-long enterprise, starting this winter, where Justin and I leave behind our modern home and begin from scratch in the West Virginia mountain country with minimal modern gear, building our own shelters, food storage, developing springs and many other bushcrafting projects to showcase Justin's incredible skill and knowledge. He has been practicing primitive living since he was a child, has studied at and participated in many established primitive living schools and organizations and served as a trail walker for the Anasazi Foundation. He has repeatedly left behind his home and job to spend an entire season or more in the wilderness honing and enjoying his skills. I on the other hand have absolutely no background in these fields and look forward to this as a student embarking on an adventure with a teacher I love and admire.
We will still have modern responsibilities, such as Justin's two children who will occasionally join us on projects, and we still have monthly payments to make on our storage facility, etc., but we have already invested just about everything we have and sold everything we own to try to keep the 141 acres of property upon which we hoped to build our own style of primitive living school. It was purchased when Justin was the owner of a growing business in 2015. Due to absurd changes in industry regulations and too much time spent traveling away from his children, he gave up the business and decided to pursue his dream of creating a primitive living school on this beautiful mountain property. Alas, we were not able to generate the income needed to continue making payments on the land. We are lucky, however, to have been offered access to more than 300 acres of nearby Appalachian wilderness which itself is a truly stunning landscape we are excited to showcase in our YouTube videos. But we want to remind our viewers that we are giving up our modern lifestyle entirely to pursue this project and will be living in the wilderness full-time. This is how we will make our living, in every sense of the phrase.
Thanks to your donations so far, we were able to purchase a solar powered generator to keep our equipment working out in the wilds and a hot spot for uploading our videos on location. However, we are still operating with only two cellphone cameras, and cannot properly provide you with the crystal clear, high quality videos to showcase the level and quantity of primitive bushcrafting projects we will constantly be producing. The microphones are shoddy and our cameras won't work well in low light conditions or in close-ups for those fine detail shots. We ask those of you who would be happy to help support our venture donate any amount you to help us upgrade our recording equipment as soon as possible, including cameras, microphones, and editing equipment that can handle the full time work we do to make these videos.
But our YouTube channel is just the beginning of the Greenbrier Bushcraft project...
Aside from creating an interactive website to feature our projects and wilderness adventures, for years we have dreamed of starting our own primitive living school in Southern West Virginia where our projects are filmed and devoting our lives to teaching a way of life that draws others into the wilds to live a comfortable, sustainable and happy life centered on the wilderness. We believe in building strong, durable shelters and other functional utilities while enjoying the work itself and hope our yearlong project helps fund this dream. We cannot wait to bring the you the highest quality informational entertainment available!
Please check out our YouTube videos, Facebook page and follow us on Instagram to see photos of our projects and the property upon which we hope to build our school. For our blogs about this project please visit us at GreenbrierBushcraft.com. The website is still in it's infancy but we have extensive plans for it!
Thank you all!
Jessica & Justin @ Greenbrier Bushcraft
