Star is a 25 year old gelding who was given away a year ago to a friend by his original owner, who could not afford to keep him. 

This week, Star was returned to his original owner.  He is starved to a body score of 1.5 out of 8, and in critical condition.  You can see how his topline has wasted away, leaving a protruding spine, withers and hip bones.  Star was returned just in time, since he may not have lived another week in this condition, in these cold temperatures.

S.O.S. wants to help Star return to a healthy weight, but our funds are extremely low right now due to such a high demand for assistance this winter, coupled with very low donations.

Star is going to need extra care and attention to be brought back to a healthy weight.  No poor animal should ever have to suffer like this. Please hang on to your horses if you can, don't just give them to a friend thinking they will care for them.

Once we can get his weight to a safe level he will need to have his teeth floated as well. Please help if you can, and spread the word to help S.O.S. save Star.
