In late 2009, after dealing with the side effects of Diabetes for 2 years, I was diagnosed with Kidney failure. I started dialysis in February 2010 and got on the transplant list in August that same year. It's been a rough 3 years waiting, but I'm finally nearing the top of the list. My worries are, that I'll be in a city 2 hours away from home for possibly over 45 days, 10 in the hospital and at least 30 days where I need to be within 10 minutes of the hospital for daily visits to ensure the transplant is taking. Having to get a hotel and pay for living expenses and transportation in Portland, will be over $10,000. I will still have to make sure my home is taken care of, where my 2 children, Jovan and Ivory will be, while I'm in the hospital. They will still be in school and while I have a lot of support, people can't stop their lives for such an extended period of time without being compensated. My rent will be over $2,000 for those two months, I will have to cover the living expenses of those who come to help me both at home and in Portland.
I'm feeling overwhelmed by the amount of money this will require, I'm trying not to worry, but I have a family to take care of and it's impossible not to consider the cost of this ordeal, while this is not an option if I want to live.
I've never needed my friends and family as much as I need them now, and I'm asking for your help. Anything you can give will help, even if it's just a dollar.
