More than two years after the fall of Kabul, soldiers of Afghanistan's former army are still being hunted down by the Taliban. Here is a chance to help one of them.
With this fundraiser I want to support a friend who served in Afghanistan's army until the fall of Kabul. He served in a specialized unit that was doing critical work in the war against Taliban. When Kabul fell, he and his comrades were sent home and left behind while their superior was evacuated. He is living in hiding since that day. The Taliban are still searching for former soldiers, who often get tortured and killed. Just recently, they started a new search operation and asked local representatives for lists of former soldiers.
Because of his service, my friend is at an even bigger risk than many other veterans. He is a person of interest to Taliban intelligence and already received explicit threats. He also belongs to the Hazara ethnicity, who are generally facing discrimination and persecution under the Taliban.
He tried to get evacuated through different admission programs, with no success so far. But now he finally has a chance to migrate to a safe country with his family. For this, we need your help with expenses like visa fees, flights and housing in his new home. No donation is too small, and we're also happy about every single person just sharing the campaign.
