Nelly Altenburger hasn't added a story.
Dear friends around the world, I'm writing this on behalf of every member of Nasenyi Jewish community in Mbale Uganda. As Uganda is going through tough times of starvation, Nasenyi Jewish community needs everyone's help to overcome this moment of unprecedented famine. With the second wave of the pandemic the community members had no choice but to cook and eat the seeds they had kept to plant in the rainy season.
The situation is so dire that most children have stopped going to school. Poverty among the parents makes them not able to pay school tuition for the children. Parents even fail to provide scholastic materials such books , pens , uniforms and lunch, which is a requirement in most schools. Because of inadequate food at home, children are not provided with breakfast nor lunch at home hence staying with empty stomachs at school leading to poor performance in their classes. Many students drop out of school before completing the next levels which puts them at risk, especially girls.
Please save the lives of the community by helping us buy seeds for this season. Young and old, women and men, they are starving and got no seeds to plant crops so that they support themselves in the next season. Scroll down for pictures of the 2020 season.
For a donation of US$ 180 or more, we will send you a kippah (yarmulke) and a trivet, made by Uganda Jewish Arts Special, the community’s effort to remain feeding their families, made by Jonathan Mwosuko and children in the Nasenyi Jewish community. We thank you profusely for your empathy, kindness and generosity.
