As most of you know, the first fund raiser was for my diabetic retinopathy in my eyes, so that I could see an ophthalmologist for a visit and treatment. Now with the unfortunate occurrences of this past week, things have changed.
On Monday January 28, 2013, I went to the ER, with dizziness, weakness, and difficulty breathing. Upon assessment I was informed that I had critical medical issues. After doing an EKG and blood work it was discovered that my hemoglobin was at a 3. Normal levels are 13 to 14. So it was then decided that a transfusion was required. At the time of the first transfusion my hemoglobin was at a 2.8. I was to be admitted but had to wait in the ER for a bed to come open in the ICU. I was given a second transfusion in the ER.
Tuesday they found me a bed on the second floor and I went to the ICU at a 5.9 hemoglobin. However while waiting for transport the doctor ordered several test: echocardiogram, paraensentsis (large needle stuck in the stomach), colonoscopy, upper GI, chest X-rays, and an ultrasound of my abdomen, to be completed to discover what was causing my low hemoglobin levels. These test occurred over the next couple of days.
Some of the tests came back and some we are still waiting results. The test with the results showed that my kidneys are not functioning correctly; they believe that that is caused by the diabetes. My liver has cirrhosis, it is caused by NASH (nonalcoholic steatohepatitis), which has caused esophageal varices.
Pretty scary, huh? I am not scared for God will not forsake or leave me.
I have been a warbler on the line of serving Christ for many years up until about a year ago. There was a period of time when I felt like God was tugging at my heart. I began to realize, that my life needed to change. One night at 4:20 am, I was awoken out of a dead sleep, and God spoke to me. He told me I needed to step up and be the godly man that he wanted me to be. These communications continued frequently between 4:20 and 4:27 am. For the life of me I could not figure out why those times were when He spoke to me. During one the times that God spoke to me, HE pointed out that I needed to learn about wisdom. I later learned that wisdom is most talked about in the book of Proverbs.
One day in a conversation with my son, out of the blue he says, “Hey dad, have you thought about reading Proverbs 4:20-27.” I said no and then opened up to Proverbs 4:20-27. I knew then that Jesus was definitely talking to me.
Proverbs 4:20-27
New International Version (NIV)
20 My son, pay attention to what I say;
turn your ear to my words.
21 Do not let them out of your sight,
keep them within your heart;
22 for they are life to those who find them
and health to one’s whole body.
23 Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.
24 Keep your mouth free of perversity;
keep corrupt talk far from your lips.
25 Let your eyes look straight ahead;
fix your gaze directly before you.
26 Give careful thought to the[a] paths for your feet
and be steadfast in all your ways.
27 Do not turn to the right or the left;
keep your foot from evil.
In a recent conversation Jesus said that he would heal me. I have the faith and belief that it will happen. However, He also made it clear that I have to get on the horse, grab the reigns and take control.
With all of this there are some concerns as far as my family. WE are financially wiped out. I am not begging for money; however there are financial issues that we can’t handle and need help. So we are taking control and asking for more prayer and financial help anywhere we can get it.
Here are some of the needs that we have:
I can’t work. I am applying for disability, but you know how that goes.
Hopefully, Medi-Cal will kick in soon, still waiting on them for final approval. They were suppose to view all the final paperwork today.
In the meantime, my prescriptions are over a hundred bucks.
Donn is only working part time. By the time she pays for fuel to get back and forth to work, we have a hundred bucks left for the month. She spent most of that on driving out to the hospital last week.
Car insurance needs to be paid and that is $125.
We have until the end of the month to get our car repaired and passing smog or it will not be able to be driven.
And then there are personal necessities.
So in closing, we are asking for help. We appreciate any help and prayer that we could get. If you could please pass this on your wall or anywhere else that you think would be helpful.
If you would like to send through regular mail you could private messages us for our address.
There will be a blog link for updates coming soon. We will share it with you when it is ready.
Again thank you for your support and prayers.
God Bless You.
